Tutorial

Tutorial is the gift of time.  Whether you need to make up a test, catch up on a concept, get some extra enrichment, or just finish a big assignment, tutorial allows South Lake to provide time for you to do that.  After 4th period, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each week, you’ll have a half hour period to get stuff done.  This may be in a tutorial session of your choice, or it may be in a “mandatorial” that a teacher assigns you.  Either way, you’ll have a little more time.

Advisement

Advisement is a home base for students.  Each teacher has a group of advisees that they keep for two years, so it becomes like family.  We also have conferences through advisement, in order to set some goals and talk about ways to achieve those goals.  When you graduate, as an 8th grader, it’s your advisor who announces your name to friends and family.  Parents, you can use your student’s advisor as a liaison between your family and the school.  It’s one more way we work to make South Lake more of a community.
